Chapter: What Has Been Related About It Being Disliked For Men To Use Saffron And Khaluq (a fragrance made from saffron and other fragrances which is mostly red and yellow)

باب مَا جَاءَ فِي كَرَاهِيَةِ التَّزَعْفُرِ وَالْخَلُوقِ لِلرِّجَالِ
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2815, 2815b
Narrated Anas bin Malik:
that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) prohibited saffron for men.
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، قَالَ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ، عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ صُهَيْبٍ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم عَنِ التَّزَعْفُرِ لِلرِّجَالِ . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ .
وَرَوَى شُعْبَةُ، هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ابْنِ عُلَيَّةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ صُهَيْبٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم نَهَى عَنِ التَّزَعْفُرِ . حَدَّثَنَا بِذَلِكَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ حَدَّثَنَا آدَمُ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى وَمَعْنَى كَرَاهِيَةِ التَّزَعْفُرِ لِلرِّجَالِ أَنْ يَتَزَعْفَرَ الرَّجُلُ يَعْنِي أَنْ يَتَطَيَّبَ بِهِ .

[Abu 'Eisa said:] This Hadith is Hasan Sahih. Shu'bah reported this Hadith from Isma'il bin 'Ulayyah, from 'Abdul-'Aziz bin Suhaib from Anas: "The Prophet (SAW) forbade from using saffron."
'Abdullah bin 'Abdur-Rahman narrated that to us (he said): "Adam narrated to us from Shu'bah who said: 'The meaning of it being disliked for the men to use saffron, is for the men to have saffron applied, that is to perfume with it.'"
